Yellow Belt Information

YELLOW BELT INFORMATION

 

Dan Gun

(21 moves, left foot returns)

 

Is named after the holy Dan-Gun, the legendary founder of Korea in the year 2333 BC.

 

Do San

(24 moves, right foot returns)

 

Is the pseudonym of the patriot Ahn Chang-Ho (1876-1938).  The 24 movements represent the 24 years of his life which he devoted to furthering the education of Korea and its independence movement.

 

Yellow Belt signifies the earth, from which a plant sprouts and takes root as the Taekwondo foundation is being laid.

 

Defintiions to Tenets

 

Courtesy - The "Golden Rule", treat others the way you wish to be treated with manners and respect.

 

Integrity - To be truthful and honest with everyone including oneselt.  To konw right from wrong.

 

Perseverance - To never give up, to keep trying even though you might not succeed on the first attempt.

 

Self-Control - To control one's physical actions as well as your emotions.  Control your temper.

 

Indomitable Spirit - Your strength of character.  The ability to face adversity with courage.
